Why we do what we do...

There are a bunch of elements to running a successful organization in both game strategy and community development.  In order to hopefully help everyone understand the how and why of things, we'll include a brief explanation of our philosophies. Please feel free to ask questions!

Server Management

When we set out to establish ODIN in our home server 89 it was our goal to foster a healthy competitive environment with one to two other alliances. Unfortunately, we have found that as we are constantly facing servers from before Lillith adjusted the number of cities there are not enough city titles, the ones that matter anyway, to go around so we have decided to try to bring everyone on the server together so that we can all progress our accounts at the most efficient rate possible. We understand there are some who don't care for this policy but unfortunately it is a necessary one. During the amnesty period when we first arrived we even paid for others to transfer servers, we feel this was above and beyond and hope that anyone remaining on our server will see the benefit of working together and join with us to seek glory as a family!

City Titles

In an effort to be welcoming to transfers and to keep the best interest of the alliance as a whole at the forefront we initially decided city titles based on fighting machine performance. This allowed us to be sure that those people holding the best titles would remain active, or give those who contributed more a chance to gain the city tile themselves.

However, recently we have discovered some flaws in this system and are currently working on developing a new algorithm that will take into account contribution but also accurately measure the contributions of players who have become so powerful as to be prohibitive in the fighting machine rankings. We will continue to do our best to make sure these titles are handed out fairly and with the best interest of the community as a whole at heart.

Academies

Through trials and tribulations, we have discovered what every warpath veteran can tell you, Lillith's matchmaking sucks. In an effort to find the best matchups we have instituted a multiple Acadamy system. We found that though we may have been able to win with everyone together, most of our smaller players just weren't enjoying their TOC experience.

To fix this problem we have begun to group players by size and time they are comfortable committing to the game. We measure this mostly through c4 scoring and use something of a voluntary relegation system to promote players up through the system. Ultimately our goal remains to unify as much of the family as possible in one team, but we thought that making sure everyone has the best TOC experience possible would limit the number of players burning out and leaving the game.
